Organization for Autistic Individuals  ( OAI ) is  a registered Charitable  Trust  under Bombay Public Trusts, Act 1950 , with the Office of the Charities Commissioner, Mumbai vide registration no. E – 28886 (MUM)   established  in July 2012 . OAI is established   with   primary objective of setting up best in class schooling facilities for Individuals who are on the Autism Spectrum Disorder. The objectives of OAI include providing multiple therapies , pre –vocational & vocational training for children on the spectrum under one roof, to make them independent and promoting respect and dignity of individuals with autism.

OAI plans to set up residential and non residential centers for Autistic Individuals. It will help to provide care and help to Autistic in their future lives after their near and dear ones are no more. It supports children in the age group of 2- 25 years. After 25 years they will graduate to a residential facility that will be set up in second phase.

The initiative is led by a group of parents whose children  themselves  are inflicted with the Autism Spectrum disorder ASD and are the founders of the trust.

With the objective of providing and making qualitative difference in day care , therapeutic and social inclusive   educational  training to Autistic Individuals, OAI  is successfully running School of Autism  at their Andheri West Mumbai, since February 2015, catering to the needs of Autistic Individuals.

It is matter of great pride and achievement  for OAI  School of Autism,  to have received the accreditation from the  Disabilities Commissioner, Social Justice Department of the Maharashtra Government, Pune  and was issued a Certificate of Registration under the Persons with Disabilities Act in March, 2017 for a period of three years.

The Improvements Committee of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation which visited the School in September, 2017 expressed  great appreciation at the cleanliness and  the infrastructure of the School and its faculty of well qualified Physiotherapist, several Special Educators and Psychologist besides the support staff, imparting qualitative life improvement skills to Autistic individuals.

Further to add feather in the cap, The National Trust for the Welfare of Persons with Autism & Multiple Disabilities, a trust set up by the Government of India, has registered the OAI School of Autism  in February, 2018 for a period of five years. Thus, the School is now fully recognized as an institution dedicated to the care, counseling and rehabilitation of persons with autism and related disabilities at Andheri (West) area of Mumbai.
